“Made by prisoners, for prisoners”
There’s no other creative production company on the planet like the UK’s Prison Radio Association.
A charity that developed the world’s first national prison radio station and for more than a decade has been using the power of audio to help people in prison change their lives.
During my two and a half years there as Managing Editor I was fortunate enough to lead a team of incredibly talented content makers - both inside and outside of prison - to create a variety of programs, playlists and projects for a listenership of more than 80,000 people across 110 prisons in England & Wales.
Some highlights from my time there:
Winning Production Company of the Year at the 2020 AudioUK Audio Production Awards as recognition for our work operating National Prison Radio as a vital lifeline for people in prison during the pandemic
The Intro - A 20 part series hosted by aspiring dancehall Jordan that aimed to demystify the entry points to the music industry for thousands of creative young people serving a sentence.
BARS - A music therapy program hosted by poet Lady Unchained full of instrumentals and advice from lyricists to help aspiring rappers inside write their own bars. Winner ‘Best Host’ at the 2021 UK ARIAs.
