triple j Unearthed
I was fortunate to have more than 4 years at triple j Unearthed as both Senior Content Producer and Executive Producer overseeing the entire platform.
It was a pleasure to manage a small team who helped young Australians find a spark for their creativity and a loving audience to share it with.
At the time Unearthed was a community of 80,000+ music lovers and creators - 600 new songs uploaded a week, a digital radio station pumping them out 24/7 - and it was a genuine thrill trying to wrangle that all together.
If you’re not immediately familiar with triple j Unearthed as a platform you’d likely be aware of it’s legacy. It has helped audiences discover home-grown talent like Flume, Courtney Barnett, Gang of Youths, Tones and I, Rüfüs Du Sol, Sampa The Great, Amy Shark, Vance Joy, Julia Jacklin, Middle Kids, Tash Sultana, Mallrat and so many more.
Content highlights during my time there included:
Celebrating 10 years as an online discovery platform by project managing a month of audience facing events and broadcasts including a massive free concert in Melbourne and a triple j-simulcasted countdown of the 100 Best Discoveries of the last decade.
Steering the incredible Unearthed High campaign each year which searches for the best high school act in the country and gives the winner a day they’ll never forget (see below)
Chronicling the rise of some of the most exciting emerging artists with documentaries on Ruby Fields, Black Summer and Vallis Alps.
Conceptualising and developing two brand new radio programs with the daily new music half-hour TOPS and the weekly gig round-up Amped.
Blatantly pranking artists to let them know they’ve won the opening spot on their favourite festival
